Positive Behaviour Support Resources for supporting neurodivergent children, teens and adults.

What is negative behaviour?

Negative behaviour refers to actions that disrupt learning, harm relationships, or violate school rules and expectations. It can include things like refusing to follow instructions, aggression, shouting, withdrawal, defiance, or inappropriate language.

These behaviours often signal unmet needs, stress, or difficulties with communication or emotional regulation. Rather than simply punishing negative behaviour, effective support focuses on understanding its root cause through behaviour tracking and assessment, and teaching more positive, appropriate alternatives.

Also referred to as 'disruptive behaviour' and 'behaviour of concern'.
