Behaviour Help Web Based App
Using the evidence-based approach of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), the Behaviour Help web-based app allows users to complete a Functional Behaviour Analysis and put together a comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) to positively guide the individual with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
This BSP can be put in place to manage and prevent challenging behaviours exhibited by the individual with EBD and ultimately improve their lives, and the lives of those who support them.
How does it work?
The Behaviour Help app guides users through three distinct phases of behaviour support: Assess, Prevent and Manage.
This process is explored in more detail below.
The Assess stage guides users through a series of questions to systematically document incidents of challenging behaviour.
For each question asked, the app provides a comprehensive list of suggestions for users to reflect on in order to determine what may have triggered the incident, and why the individual may have exhibited specific behaviours.
Once all questions are answered, the Behaviour Help app produces a Functional Behaviour Analysis to detail the triggers and functions of the individual’s challenging behaviours.
The Manage stage guides users through a series of questions to profile how the individual’s challenging behaviour escalates.
For each question asked, the app provides a comprehensive list of effective responses and strategies to safely defuse and de-escalate the situation in the least disruptive manner.
Once all questions have been answered, the Behaviour Help app produces a Behaviour Management Plan, which details the individual’s escalation profile, and what strategies have been chosen to de-escalate challenging behaviour.
The Prevent stage guides users through a series of questions to determine what strategies can be applied to minimise or avoid the occurrence of challenging behaviours.
For each question asked, the app provides a comprehensive list of strategies for tailoring the environment, activity and interactions to avoid challenging behaviour from beginning or escalating.
The app also provides strategies for helping the individual learn positive ways of behaving and managing their emotions. Once all questions are answered, the Behaviour Help app produces a Prevention Plan that details the strategies that have been chosen to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.
All documents produced are saved in the app as downloadable, ready-to-print PDFs that can be shared with other people in the individual’s support network and edited as required.
