Assess, manage and prevent - the positive behaviour support framework

If you have a team that would like a tailored, practical and interactive workshop on this topic please email Dolly Bhargava at [email protected].

Course Overview

Challenging behaviours can affect the wellbeing, safety, and stability of any environment — whether that is a classroom, family home, residential care, or community setting. When these behaviours occur, they often require significant time and energy, which can impact both the individual and those around them.

To respond effectively, it is essential to first understand why behaviours are occurring. A Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) provides a structured approach to identifying the triggers, purposes, and maintaining factors of behaviour. With this knowledge, support strategies can be planned that are positive, proactive, and sustainable.

This interactive workshop introduces participants to the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework and demonstrates how to use the Behaviour Help App as a practical tool to collect data, conduct FBAs, and guide decision-making. The workshop equips participants with knowledge and strategies to assess, manage, and prevent challenging behaviours while promoting skill development, independence, and quality of life for the individuals they support.
